This has been a very challenging week for me in terms of experiencing an overwhelming sense of fatigue as well as soreness in my legs. It was supposed to be a higher volume week but so far I have had to make some modifications to my workouts and schedule. On Wed. evening I got on my bike trainer to start my workout, and not 2 mins into it, I stopped pedalling and decided that I needed a day off. My legs were feeling so dead and sore that I just could not proceed with the session. On top of that, I was experiencing very low motivation to do my training.
After my long sessions from the weekend and the race the previous weekend, I think my body was telling me that it needed a rest! I shortened my planned 70 min run to 55min after work yesterday, which still completely sucked as I felt like a big piece of crap. Then I skipped my swim last night and instead went to bed early. I felt pretty good this morning and got up at 6am for a quick easy 60min spin on the trainer. My legs feel better already and my energy is coming back.
Sometimes you just have to listen to what your body is telling you, even if you don't agree with it! Hopefully this weekend I will be back to feeling good while running again!
